Harris Academy South Kenton

As one of the latest schools to join the Harris Federation, this large primary needed a library that reflected the school's love of reading. We were asked to create an inviting space by Lord Harris, founder and creator of Harris Academies, who had seen ABC's work at a school in SE London. When he offered us the opportunity to make-over one of his schools how could we refuse?

With a brilliant original remit from the children and an excellent mood board to work from, The London Library was born.

Talented graphic designers created bespoke wall art featuring the pupils chosen landmarks on one wall, and on the opposite, a homage to their own area, including the school and the Wembley Arch. We worked with Olivbells to build a reading nook featuring a tube train, a bus and entry via a Buckingham Palace sentry box!

We were delighted to welcome Sir Dan Moynihan, CEO of the Federation and Sabeena Hasan the Primary Director to the launch event, where children participated by reading poems and telling us about their favourite books.

ABC was supported by our usual partners on this project, and we especially thank local estate agents Gibbs Gillespe who collected books from the local community - and provided over 1000 books to fill the shelves.

We loved working on our first London themed library!
